Publication Project
For this project we had to choose a place in the following topics:
Education
Novelty
Power
Manufacture and Sustainability
I chose Manufacture and Sustainability in response, where we discussed different campaigns and the different tactics used by them to call out people's attention.
Having said this, this was where our to do essay came to have its basis on, having the option to choose between two question to choose from.
Within the Manufacture and Sustainability we were split into groups of 5, according to which topic people felt more involved with.
We Started by brain storming, going through various ideas like making a scale that would say hypothetically how much time we would have left on earth comparing it to how the years go up when things are taken out of the balance, a reenactment of the investigatory powers bill campaign to show how it should have had more attention called to it then what it had, making sculptures that would replicate and include inside of them the most found type of litter in landfills, and the one we followed about reusing plastic found on the streets to which we gave the name of "Do you see me now?"
Do you see me now?
The objective of this idea was to bring back to people the garbage found on the street (which is mostly plastic) in a different form. A social experiment was made where the tiles were put back into the scenes from where the plastic litter originated before our interference, to see what people's reactions would be. Would they take it? Would they ignore it? Would it blend in the scene?
The tiles were created by joining plastic with the different colours that we organised by what would look better when melted together, put into a mould, heated up with a heat gun and then pressed the lid that follows the mould structure.
We explored plastic as a medium and a resource showing a way that plastic can be reused. In the exhibition the tiles were organised in a dynamic way so that it would be more interactive then a structured brick wall.
