Illustrations

Sardines drawing contest, made by Delfim Ruas, related to a festival made in Portugal where people drink, socialize and eat sardines. In this artwork i enjoy the creativity, reference to portuguese culture and the gray romantic colors.

Julio Pomar illustrating Fernando Pessoa in different positions, i find interesting the confident quick lines and the way the autor chose when to make them thicker.

Scientific illustration by the famous Pedro Salgado, done in a black and white scrapable paper.

Art

Independent heart by Joana Vasconcelos, an artwork accompanied by the traditional music called fado, being Amalia Rodrigues singing "Seagull" (my only favorite fado song). The heart is a traditional Viana filigree which symbolizes the sacred heart of Jesus, but this time done by another artist and with a different media, forks, knifes and plastic spoons.

Artwork by Almada Negreiros, representing the maritime platform that had best conditions then any other although it wasn't finished at the time. I like the way the author made the artwork to seem flat even though there's some perspective found in the murals.
 better condition then every other

A monumental art symbolizing the maritime discoveries made by Vasco da Gama and his crew, much more interesting seeing it in person not only because of the size but because of the representation of each crew member.

Design

These are mosaics found on the most known area in town in front of a museum in down town, i find interesting the movement and the repetition of the same form.

Sumol is a portuguse beverage and i found this new design, made by the Sumol markting team, to be very attractive and colorful from the way the fruits are represented, having a younger and more street art approach.

Portuguese monument called Tower of Belem designed by Garcia de Resende, what attracts me about this architectural design is the Manueline style that can be found on the the tower's details.
